Walcot offers rugby for all ages and abilities - we have a thriving youth section for boys and girls from school year 1 to Year 13; we run 2 x senior mens teams and we have the Walcot Warriors mixed ability team.

We train and play at Albert Field, Lansdown Road, BA1 9BJ - opposite the Lansdown Park & Ride.

We have RFU qualified coaches in all parts of the club, to ensure a quality experience

Our clubhouse offers hot and cold drinks and food, and has just been upgraded with 100Mbit/s WiFi

New Players: Key Information

New players are always very welcome, and our coaches will help you develop your skills in a fun and friendly environment. No previous rugby experience is needed!

We are an RFU accredited club which means we provide the highest level of coaching.

We were part of the RFUs "Kids First" rugby pilot 10 years ago, and are a keen advocate of an inclusive rugby approach.

While we are keen that everyone participates and gets the best chance to learn, it doesn't mean we aren't able to play good rugby. Over recent years we have had youth teams win league and cup competitions, and we have also had players go on to play premiership rugby and play for England - players such as Gabriel Oghre (Bristol Bears) and Gabe Hamer-Webb (Cardiff Blues).

In our 2 senior teams, each week 50-70% of the players have come up through Walcot's youth section. In one game last season 17 of the 18 man squad in our 1st XV were former Walcot youth players.

We are proud of our links with the local community, and our latest venture is to become a member of the star* scheme. Star* provides opportunities for children who have suffered multiple ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) to build confidence through playing rugby.

For any Girls interested in playing rugby, we are looking to restart Girls rugby at Walcot. For girls in Years 4, 5 & 6 (U9 to U11), we will be looking to hold girls only training sessions. Girls in these age groups can also train and play with boys, but from our prior experience, it is good to offer a girls only option to help develop skills and build confidence. At U12 (Year 7) and above girls have to train and play separately to boys anyway. If you have a daughter interested in playing rugby - in the first instance please contact Dave Parsons - daparson@gmail.com.
