Introduction
Walcot Rugby club is a thriving community based family club that delivers sport for all ages and abilities. We provide rugby for c. 350+ players each week across:
- 2 x mens senior teams
- Youth teams from U7 to U18 - including girls teams
- Mixed Ability (we were the first mixed ability team in S. West England)
- Walking Rugby
Over the years we have provided opportunities for thousands of people of all abilities to play rugby with their friends. Through this inclusive approach we have seen players not only play for Walcot, but some have gone on to play for Somerset, Bath U18 Academy, England U16, U18 & U20 and in the Gallagher Premiership.
Over the years, our great reputation has meant that we have:
- Provided mascots for a Remembrance day match (Barbarians versus the Armed Forces) at Bath Rec
- Provided guard of honour at Twickenham for an England International
- Been featured by the RFU in promotional videos for 'Kids First' Rugby
- Hosted BT Sports 'Rugby Tonight' programme from our clubhouse
We fund the club through membership fees and sponsorships. Sponsorships are essential to ensure that we at least hit break even each year.
In this short note, I just want to highlight the current opportunities we have for sponsorship and look for your support in finding individuals or business that may be able to join with the club and be a sponsor. Platinum Sponsor Opportunity
Over the last year we’ve had great support from Truespeed as the club’s platinum sponsor. With their involvement we’ve been able to provide support to all our age groups through much needed sponsorship income. Unfortunately, with new investment and a change in business strategy, Truespeed have decided not to renew their sponsorship for this season.
There’s a great opportunity now for a new sponsor for our 2022/23 season. Ideally, we look for a multi-year arrangement with a sponsor and look to make them part of the success of the club. There are lots of opportunities for people to see your business supporting such a valuable family club as Walcot Rugby (social media, articles in Bath Chronicle etc.), plus prime advertising on the clubs ground, pitchside and clubhouse signage and playing kit. Senior player sponsorship
Walcot Rugby has a strong senior team with players from all over the local area. With matches often all over the south west the costs of supporting the team can grow. Before COVID we started a successful player sponsor programme where individuals, families or a company can sponsor a player for £250. This means the player has their membership paid including all match fees. For your donation you can be optionally listed on the Walcot Website with a link to your organisation and a list of sponsors will be displayed in the club house.
Youth - Sponsoring an age group team
Also, there’s opportunity to sponsor an age group team in this case your company’s logo goes on the front and/or back of the kit and the platinum sponsor’s logo goes on the sleeves . In this case we ask the sponsor to pay for a set of playing kit for the team and then a small donation to the club.
Advertising boards
There is a great opportunity to have your company logo on an 8’ x 2’ advertising board at Walcot around the 1st team pitch. It’s an ideal opportunity for local businesses or individuals / families to show their support for Walcot. Each board costs £300 for the first year and then £300 per annum recurring donation. Smaller boards are available for £100 per annum.
